PNG 1105: PN NURSING PRACTICUM I

Credits 5

The student will provide direct patient care skills to adult patients. Emphasis is placed upon basic care, safety, and comfort of the patients with a focus on body mechanics, nursing procedures, pharmacology, medical mathematics, laboratory and diagnostic procedures.

Prerequisites

Must complete all pre-requisites with a grade of "C" or higher and acceptance into the PN program.

PNG 1110: PN NURSING THEORY I

Credits 10

The knowledge, skills and behaviors of the practical nurse are introduced. The focus is on the theoretical basis of fundamental/basic nursing concepts for adult patients. Course content focuses on an introduction to medical/surgical, geriatric, and psychiatric health care problems.

Prerequisites

Must complete all pre-requisites with a grade of "C" or higher and acceptance into the PN program.

PNG 1205: PN NURSING PRACTICUM II

Credits 5

The student will provide direct patient care skills to patients of all ages. Emphasis is placed upon basic care, safety, and comfort of patients with a focus on body mechanics, nursing procedures, pharmacology, medical mathematics, laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Focus is on the leadership/management and clinical nursing.

Prerequisites

Must complete all pre-requisites with a grade of "C" or higher.

PNG 1210: PN NURSING THEORY II

Credits 10

This course builds upon the concepts taught in Theory I. the focus is on the theoretical nursing concepts for patients of all ages. Course content focuses on introduction to pediatrics and obstetrics while continuing to build upon medical/surgical, geriatric, and psychiatric health care problems.

Prerequisites

Must complete all pre-requisites with a grade of "C" or higher.

PNG 1302: PN NURSING PRACTICUM III

Credits 2

The student will provide direct patient care skills to patients of all ages. Emphasis continues to be placed upon basic care, safety, and comfort of patients with a focus on body mechanics, nursing procedures, pharmacology, medical mathematics, laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Emphasis is placed upon the role of the practical nurse in monitoring and administering medications and coordinating care for small groups of patients. Students will also complete the required number of hours working with an approved preceptor.

PNG 1304: PN NURSING THEORY III

Credits 4

This course builds upon the concepts taught in theory I and II. The focus is on the theoretical nursing concepts for patients of all ages. Course content continues to build upon the concepts taught in pediatric, obstetrics, medical/surgical, geriatric, and psychiatric health care problems.
