This is an introductory course in the materials and techniques of drawing, including basic concepts of line, perspective, and value. Techniques will be developed with the study of still life, perspective, portraits, and figures, while special projects encourage creative expression.

FAV 1013: INTRODUCTION TO STUDIO ART

Students will learn a hands-on approach to the fundamental media, techniques, and concepts of making art. A variety of materials and projects will encourage creative problem solving. Drawing, design, painting, and sculptural techniques will be introduced, with an emphasis on exploration and individual creativity.

FAV 1043: PAINTING II

Painting II is a continuation of Introduction to Painting (FAV 1033), deepening the student’s understanding of color and design, creating images with impact and expressive content. Both opaque and transparent painting techniques will be explored.
