IND 1024: INTRODUCTION TO GAS METAL ARC WELDING (GMAW)

This course introduces trainees to basic GMAW procedures, safety, equipment setup, and equipment control. Trainees will explore techniques needed to produce basic weld beads as well as proper fillet and V-groove welds using GMAW. Students will participate in laboratory sessions that provide an opportunity to practice and complete the performance tasks in preparation for respective certified welding examination. Required personal protective equipment includes; appropriate flame-resistant clothing, safety glasses, face shields, welding hoods with proper lens tint, welding gloves, proper footwear as designated by the instructor, and hearing protection. Require welding equipment includes: wire brush, squares, files, chipping hammers, tape measures, and rod pouch.
