Degree Programs

The Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) have approved UACCB to offer the following degrees and certificates:

Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree

The Associate of Arts degree is designed for students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. This statewide transfer degree is designed to ease transfer from two- to four-year institutions and to maximize the credit hours taken at the two-year institution.

Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree

The Associate of Science degree program is designed for students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university, with emphasis in a particular major.

Associate of Science in Business (A.S.B.) Degree

The A.S.B. degree will be awarded to students who successfully complete a planned program of collegiate-level work that is transferable toward a specified baccalaureate degree in business. This statewide transfer degree is designed to ease transfer from two- to four-year institutions and to maximize the credit hours taken at the two-year institution.

Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degrees

The A.A.S degree is not designed for transfer to a baccalaureate program, except the Bachelor of Applied Science degree. However, some courses in these programs may transfer to other institutions.

Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) Degree

The A.A.T. degree will be awarded to students who successfully complete a planned program of collegiate-level work that is transferable toward a specified baccalaureate degree in teacher education at each participating Arkansas university. This statewide transfer degree is designed to ease transfer from two- to four-year institutions and to maximize the credit hours taken at the two-year institution.

Associate of Applied Science in General Technology (A.A.S.G.T.) Degree

The A.A.S.G.T. is designed for students who successfully complete an individualized program of study to fulfill a unique career goal that cannot be met through the completion of another Associate degree offered by the institution.

Disclaimer for the Associate of Applied Science: The Associate of Applied Science degree is designed for employment purposes, and it should not be assumed that the degree or the courses in the degree can be transferred to another institution. While many institutions do accept some courses in the A.A.S. programs, the general rule is that courses in the A.A.S. degree are not accepted in transfer toward a bachelor’s degree. Students to whom transfer is important should get assurance in writing in advance from the institution to which they wish to transfer.

Technical Certificates (T.C.)

The T.C. is designed to focus on classroom and laboratory/shop work at the collegiate level that recognizes the completion of a specified level of competency in an occupational field. The program of study may be a stand-alone program or a part of an associate degree curriculum and includes a range of 21-45 credit hours.

Certificate of General Studies (C.G.S.)

The C.G.S is designed to recognize 31-38 credit hours of specified general education core courses successfully completed by students. The program will document the student’s mastery of skills and competencies needed to be successful in the workforce and function in today’s world.

Certificates of Proficiency (C.P)

The C.P. will be awarded to students who have demonstrated mastery of skills and knowledge against specified performance standards in a specific area or discipline. The award is granted for programs requiring 6-21 undergraduate semester credit hours. The program of study may be a stand-alone program or part of a technical certificate, associate degree or bachelor’s curriculum.

Criminal Justice Institute Training for Current Police Officers

The Criminal Justice Institute of the University of Arkansas System and UACCB offer Associate of Applied Science degrees, Technical Certificates, and Certificates of Proficiency in Crime Scene Investigation and Law Enforcement Administration for persons who are current law enforcement officers.
